Artist Lois Schroff
Award-winning watercolourist and artist Lois Schroff brings a dual emphasis to the Lakeside Arts Scene: An emphasis on the ‘spirit’ and ‘soul’ of colour, and the recognition of painterly achievement across all mediums. Among her most prestigious personal awards are Best in Show and First in Watercolor at an exhibition of over 800 entries at Tyson Corner Mall in 1974. It was judged by the Curator of the Washington, DC, Phillips Collection. In another show, judged by well-known painter Jack Perlmutter, she received First in Watercolor. She is a Signature Member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and her paintings have been exhibited in both group and one-person shows, primarily in the area of Washington, D.C. and, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. When Lois arrived at Lakeside, she founded the Lake Chapala Painting Guild, organized for the purpose of promoting juried art shows to provide credible recognition for area painters. Additionally, her emphasis on artistic inspiration is seen in her work as an author – Lois has published two books and a DVD on the subject of colour, designed to promote spiritually-based painting. Her current book, Color – Its Relationship to Soul and Spirit is in the process of being translated into Spanish and French.
